Emergency and Community Health Outreach (MN)

From:  ECHO Minnesota Collaborative
Description

ECHO provides health and safety information by fax, phone, television, Internet, and e-mail during emergency and non-emergency times. The program is noteworthy, because it is conducted in languages other than English by "in-language" hosts. Outreach materials and television shows are produced in multiple languages, including Spanish, Hmong, Somali, Vietnamese, Lao, and Khmer. Although the web site must be updated on a regular basis, the practice could be a creative way for all jurisdictions and organizations to enhance preparedness outreach and communication with special populations.

ECHO added an H1N1 page to address concerns regarding the 2009 circulating virus. Video, audio, and print public service announcements are available in 12 languages and promote influenza prevention activies, including staying at home when ill, hand washing, receiving a seasonal flu vaccine, and H1N1 vaccine priority groups.

Special note on fees: DVDs of the programs are available at cost through the web site. Click "contact us" on the web site for details.

The external links included here may be duplicative to some of the stored files, but they may also be updated or provide additional useful information.
